Republicans Rush To Spin Angry Email To Sen. Jim Bunning

Republicans are trying to shift the focus of an angry email to a republican senator as a growing Obama police state. Forget what prompted Bruce Shore, a 51-year-old unemployed man from Philadelphia to send heated emails to Republican Sen. Jim Bunning for his obtuse whining about missing the Kentucky-South Carolina basketball game because he had to be in Congress to debate an unemployment benefits bill.

Republicans want to shift the focus to the FBI showing up at Mr. Shores front door when his emails became too heated. In his February 26 email to Bunning staffers, Mr. Shore wrote:

"Are you'all insane. No checks equal no food for me. DO YOU GET IT?"

Shore told The Huffington Post that he sent the emails from his person Yahoo account via the contact button on Bunnings Senate website. In a subsequent email, Shore wrote:

"If I do NOT get my check next week I WILL HAVE NO FOOD AND WILL BE ON THE STREET," Shore sent from his Yahoo account. "IF THIS POLITICAL GRANDSTANDING DOES NOT END TODAY - WE WILL COME TO YOUR OFFICES AND MAKE OUR POINT."

People sometimes forget that the constitution provides the right for every American to challenge their government and for the government to hear their grievances. However, when anger dictates and you go from:

"Here's what I disagree with and what I think you should do about it."

To

"IF THIS POLITICAL GRANDSTANDING DOES NOT END TODAY - WE WILL COME TO YOUR OFFICES AND MAKE OUR POINT."

You shouldn't be all too surprised when the FBI shows up at your door. It should also come as no big surprise that with the threatening email being sent to a republican senator, the republicans are trying to make political hay by branding the incident as the result of a spooky Obama police state. They're trying to distract attention away from the fact that the angry email was a direct result of the republicans keeping unemployed Americans from receiving extended unemployment benefits.

Can anyone imagine what the republicans would be saying if threatening emails to a republican senator were simply ignored by federal authorities? HOLY SHIT? "These crazy mother fuckers are threatening to come down to the offices of republican senators to make some sort of point and Obama won't even send the FBI to go investigate.

We are a nation of laws and in spite of individual rights provided in the constitution, there are limits. You cannot threaten a sitting Senator that if he or she doesn't do as you wish, you're gonna come down to their office to make some ambiguous point. Any point Mr. Shore wanted to make could have been included in his many emails. When you threaten to physically travel hundreds of miles to a Senators office, any logical person would assume that it's not just to say something that could have been said in an email, but rather to do something.
I don't know if Mr. Shore is a republican or a democrat, but if you're unemployed as a result of the previous presidents assault on our economy, and if you don't get extended benefits, you know who to blame. The same mother fuckers that caused you to lose your God Damn job in the first place.
Nevertheless, I still love my country as imperfect as it may be.

  2. no matter what Obama does or says, to the repubs it will have been the wrong thing. They have two reactions ready to go for and against why Obama made the wrong decision.
